Did you know Tony Hawk doubled for Will Ferrell in the film ‘Daddy’s Home’? The film came out in 2015 and starred Ferrell as a well-to-do stepfather trying to gain the love of his stepchildren. Things are ramped up when the children’s biological father (Mark Walhberg) returns home and begins a battle for the kid’s attention.
I watched the film and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. There’s something unique about the partnership between Ferrell and Walhberg, and one of the few times I can stand them in a film (yeah, I’m not a giant fan of either).
In the movie, however, is a scene where Ferrell skateboards off the roof into a half-pipe and does some tricks. The double was none other than Tony Hawk, but little did we know he actually had to get stitches. Hawk detailed the experience in an Instagram post that you can see below.
“I was lucky / tall enough to be Will Ferrell’s stunt double in Daddy’s Home and took my “method” acting a step too far… they wanted a fake slam but I unintentionally gave them a real one by bouncing off the coping on a flailed McTwist. A quick side mission to get stitches in my thigh, and I was back on set the next morning. There’s no business like show business? I guess so because it’s still my favorite scar story.”

Fans had some questions in the comments, and Hawk actually replied! One person asked, “Do you get to keep wardrobe?”, Hawk wrote back, “nah, it was bloody and they had to cut the pants off of me. I didn’t really want to see it again”.
Another asked, “Did they use that take?”, to which Hawk again responded, “yes, but they altered it so I (he) hits the power lines above”.
